Building Maintenance Technician I

Summary:
The DuPage Airport Authority is hiring one (1) full-time Building Maintenance Technician. This position performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance, repair, and alteration of hangars and other buildings maintained by the Authority.
Essential Duties:
- Perform general painting, carpentry, and plumbing tasks.
- Maintain heating, cooling, and ventilation (HVAC) systems.
- Maintain and repair hangar doors and electric gates.
- Troubleshoot, replace, and/or repair parts on a wide variety of electrical equipment.
- Detect, replace, and/or repair defective building and airfield lighting fixtures.
- Maintain and repair plumbing systems.
- Operate snow removal equipment and clear sidewalks during all snow events as required.
Work Environment:
This position is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. Other exposures include moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in this environment can be loud.
Desirable Experience:
- Strong customer service skills.
- Prior facilities maintenance background.
Applicant Requirements
Applicants must be 18 years of age, high school diploma or equivalent, possess a valid Illinois Driver’s License, submit to drug an alcohol testing and a fingerprint based criminal history record check.
